IOF logo  Competitors in this season's Bike Orienteering Summer Series should   note changes to the MTBO mappings specifications made by the IOF in   April 2024. 

 The most notable changes are:           
 - New symbol - Unpaved road 
 - New symbol - Unpaved area 
 - New symbol - the start of a continuing course after a map flip/map exchange
 - Change of the width category for narrow/wide tracks from 1.5m to 1.8m
 - Magnetic north lines - change of spacing to: 1000m on the ground at the scale of 1:15000, 1:12500 or 1:10000; 500m for 1:7500 or 1:5000.

Update: In Jan 2025 Symbol 502.1 Wide Unpaved Road was made an optional symbol. Symbol 815 Track: Fast Riding will generally be used to represent unpaved roads.
